Board Meetings

The Board normally meets on the last Tuesday of each month at a local restaurant. Each Houston Area MOAA member is invited and encouraged to attend. An invitation notifying the Board and chapter members with the exact time, location, agenda and financial report is emailed prior the meeting. The Board reviews its previous month’s minutes and financial report and approves expenditures for the upcoming month. It also considers issues important, and if necessary, approves appropriate actions. The decisions made at the Board meeting are reported to the membership at the Monthly Member Luncheons.

If you would like to learn more about the Board, please contact one of the Board Officers. Their contact information is located in the About Us page.

Monthly Luncheon Meetings

The Chapter conducts a monthly member luncheon meeting to present issues and topics of general interest to our members. The Chapter provides updated continuing education concerning the military’s changes to policy, priorities, service member benefits, local military affairs, organizational restructuring, Surviving Spouse policy initiatives and MOAA National activities, among others. The Chapter also hosts a guest speaker that provides information pertinent to our members, active, former and retired, and their spouses. Normally the meetings are conducted the last Saturday of the month and have taken place at local restaurants, museums or other facilities that have interest to our military community. For example, we have met at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum and the Lone Star Flight Museum and have hosted guest speakers, including the Ukrainian Counsel, a Military Attache, a NASA Flight Operations Director, our Surviving Spouse MOAA National Liaison, the Commander of the Coast Guard’s Houston Area Maritime and Security team, among other notable speakers.
